5 Gods: Prologue

                The five gods.
One represents the five main elements and symbolizes something of importance.
Earth, symbolizing the body of all living things, it's what gives us strength.
Air, symbolizing the five senses, powering the body and giving it feeling.
Fire, symbolizing the heart, giving us the burning passion living things need to thrive.
Water, symbolizing the mind, keeping the flow of thoughts constant and our ideas fresh.
Light, symbolizing the spirit in which we all have, making us our own person, each different than each other.
The five gods rule their element on earth, powering everything from volcanoes, to the simple waves that flow onto the shores. They rule even humanity, giving us the parts needed to be us, to thrive on their world built for us. They are ever forgiving but also can be cruel to those who wrong them. The world simply flows and life carries on even then. Faith in the gods has been fading. The only proof that they have some sort of existence in our world is the small gifts they give a chosen few that are favored by one of the gods.
The gifts they had given us was our abilities to use an element they choose for us when we are born. If we were favored when our spirit was being created, the gift was usually was the same element they could control, but as time moved forward a few hundred years, new elements were given, and the gifts became stronger. The powers were not even remotely as strong as their's are but we could manipulate it some what depending on how strong we really were with it.
Dark, Animal, Spirit, Lightning, Ice, Metal, Crystal, Time, and Space had started to appear. The original five had turned to fourteen. It was rare to not see a human with an elemental gift, a simple marking under his or her eye on either side, but even as humans, we do error and fall to greed, and the gifts were turned into nothing but another means for corruption.
A small band of "normal" humans had gotten together to go against the elements and their greedy ways. Eventually it had grown in members and power. Even some elements had joined their cause to get rid of the elements that were abusing their precious gifts, by any means necessary. They eventually grew violent with the element's retaliation and willingness on not stepping down and it ended in starting a war between both types of people. It was known as "The Elemental War". the group of people eventually wiped out almost all the element users, being out numbered, the remaining elements had gone into hiding, almost never showing off their gift, hiding the markings on their faces. The group of people that killed almost all the elementals in cold blood were eventually known as the Hunters, their original name lost in history.
It has been almost a hundred years since the war and the Hunters had eventually shrunk down in members due to the quickly changing times. People had become to fear them and they didn't agree with their idea of an elemental-free world. But even in their shrinking numbers, the Hunters continued to hunt down and kill elementals off if they could find them but the elementals were just continuing to be born.
What the Hunter's never knew was that in retaliation for murdering their precious elements, the gods created a whole new race of humans that were given different gifts. Not much is known about them because they never really have showed themselves, they hide  somewhere in the world, but they are simply referred as demons.

     That's what I was told anyway by my mother and the teachers of a special school I am currently attending. But even then, I feel like that there is something else bigger going on, something that hasn't been told to us by teachers or adults, something I may be writing for future history books. The only thing that reminds me of this is my mother's last words to me that I will never forget;

"you are loved by all five gods……"
