The Elements exist in the world above, the world that was originally created for them, and with time the humans fought. They fought over power and eventually killed each other, the norm and the Elements alike, they kept killing until the Elements were near defeat. They hid. They tried to survive. Tried to survive in a world that wanted them dead. In due time, the gods who gave the Elements their gifts became angry and created a different being, one that cannot be beaten by any mere human. We were meant to be the weapons to make the world for the Elements, to kill off the humans, but we refused. We wanted to be our own lives. So we fled, we fled to the one place nobody ruled yet, the hollow underground. Tunnels snaked through most to the planet under the surface, only did we know were to find them, we called it home. The humans forgot about us. The Elements remember but cant find us. We preferred that way.
The demons thrived as their own kind. Unnoticed by the world above.
